OFT to Investigate Rising Car Insurance Costs

On average car insurance premiums have risen by 21 percent over the past two years prompting the OFT to investigate what is going on.

The OFT says it has reasonable grounds to believe that repair garages and replacement car companies were trying to restrict competition which leads to an increase in car insurance for the average motorist.

The OFT has said insurers are finding it hard to conclude whether claims for repairs and courtesy cars were reasonable or not.
