Fraudulent insurance applications down
The number of fraudulent applications for insurance policies has fallen during the first 2 quarters of 2010, according to Experian. Having hit an all time high of 16 fraudulent applications per 10,000 in the final three months of 2009, the figure has now halved and is now only eight applications per 10,000.

However, the credit specialist has also reported that in the first six months of this year, 19 in every 10,000 loan applications received by UK financial institutions were identified as fraudulent, a 33% increase on the second half of 2009. This is thought to be due to the hightened restrictions banks have now placed on customers applying for loans.
