Child Life Insurance

There are many reasons why a parent would consider getting a life insurance policy for their child, including the fact that getting a whole life insurance policy for a child who then develops a severe medical condition will still allo that child to get insurance later on in their life.

There are two types of child life insurance which are Term Life Insurance and Whole Life Insurance.

Term Life Insurance - Offers child life insurance for a fixed term. The main function of this type of insurance is to provide parents, if the worst does happen and their child passes away, with a lump sum of money to pay for funeral costs and other costs, e.g. to cover the missing income from work. Term Life Insurance is the cheaper option but it will not be worth anything upon reaching the end of the term.

Whole Life Insurance - Particularly beneficial if your child has a known medical condition, if you bought a while life insurance policy for this child they will be able to stay insured throughout later life. This type of policy also includes a sizeable savings component accrued from your premium payments. You can use this type of policy to cover the cost of your child's education or to pay for the child when you retire.
